Chauvin Trial Judge Slams Maxine Waters' Statements... "Could Overturn The Whole Trial"

The judge presiding the trial against former police officer Derek Chauvin, who was allegedly responsible for the death of George Floyd last year, heavily criticized statements by Rep. Maxine Waters who on Saturday night attended a Black Lives Matter protest at Brooklyn Center and encouraged "peaceful protesters" to violate the nighttime curfew to continue demonstrating on the streets.

"We've got to stay on the street, and we've got to get more active. We've got to get more confrontational," Waters told reporters on the scene.

Judge Peter Cahill called these statements "abhorrent" and warned that they could "overturn" the entire trial.

"I'll give you that Congresswoman Waters may have given you something on appeal that may result in this whole trial being overturned," Cahill told the defense.

The jury in the Derek Chauvin trial has already begun deliberating after attorneys for both sides finished their closing arguments. They are expected to reach a verdict before Friday.
