Derek Chauvin Spends 23 Hours A Day In Cell...

Derek Chauvin, 45, was taken to MCF - Oak Park Heights on Tuesday after being found guilty of killing George Floyd. He is being held in solitary confinement on suicide watch to ensure his safety.

The former cop will spend 23 hours a day in a cell, only allowed out for one hour to exercise. His prison cell measures about 7 by 10 feet and is fitted only with a cement slab bed, thin mattress, a table, toilet and sink. The 'Super Seg' unit where Chauvin is being held has extremely high levels of security for inmates who are being disciplined or separated due to safety. Inmates in the unit are checked on every 30 minutes and have minimal to zero contact with prison guards.
